Happy Happenings

In list form as per usual. 1.  This week I had the best mail-week in a long time; look what made its way to my home!

I got a brand-new T-shirt from walk in love. clothing!  I've worn it twice and received tons of compliments already.  It's a first-shirt-you-wear-out-of-the-clean-laundry kind of T-shirt.  The one you wear with your best jeans and your favorite underwear.  I think it's important that you go to their website immediately and purchase some quality shirts for yourself.  Go ahead, you're worth it.

My happy mail package also came with a disc of images from Brooke Courtney Photography - look at this shot she captured of baby Jasper!

I know, right?  Great mail-day.

2. I french-braided my own hair for the very first time this week.  This has been a new years resolution (unresolved) for at least three years, and has recently graduated to my life list.  I attempted it on a whim, celebrated, then looked in the mirror.

DRAT. It's backwards.  Or is it inside out?  (Note to self: Check first, then celebrate.  This rule of thumb applies to many a life situation.)

3. I had a free breakfast at Gibsons BBQ this morning - while a friend watched Madeline for me.

4.  I have fresh flowers on my coffee table, a sparkley clean kitchen, Girls Night went off without a hitch, and I have this little man sleeping on my shoulders.

What a delicious week.

A (funny) Madeline Post

I laugh every single day because Madeline is one of the funniest, quirkiest, sweetest people I've ever known. Here are two recent moments that we captured.  The first is Madeline playing with Jasper's cat toy.  I should say, Madeline accosting Jasper with his own cat toy.  If you watch carefully, you can see her beat Jasper on the head with it and hit the camera with it at least once.

Also, when she gets into it, she reminds us a lot of the Star Wars Kid. (Worth another watch if it's been a while since you've seen it.)  I hope to capture the Madeline/Jasper power struggle on tape soon - I wake up every morning to hear Madeline yelling at Jasper (who is laying in front of my door) "JASPER, BAAACCK UUPPPP!!!"  And she likes to pick him up and carry him around by his hips.  Although now he's big enough for his front paws to touch the ground when she carries him this way, so it looks like they're doing the wheelbarrow.

The second video is entitled "Madeline's Accent."  Her Grandmama Sandra says this little rhyme to Madeline when she puts her to bed.  It goes something like this:

"To bed, to bed my sleepyhead It's time to go to sleep. And when I put you in the bed I will not hear a peep."

Madeline came home and recited this rhyme to us and we were astounded at what we heard.

In Sandra's defense, Madeline is exaggerating for effect.  Especially the words "time" and "sleep."  But "bed" and "head" sound pretty accurate to me!  I actually think it's pretty charming.  And of course entertaining to watch Madeline turn it off and on.

Thanks, Jesus, for such a wonderful, funny little girl!
