Last year I wrote a post that crashed my blog; it received more than 2 million views in less than 2 weeks. I got a lot of comments saying I was enlightened. I also got a lot of comments saying that I was a misogynist &#%#*@@$!%. So I did what any sane person would do – I wrote a book about it.
My post was called “10 Things I Want to Tell Teenage Girls.” I wrote it at 2:00 am on a Sunday morning, based on my 6-year stint in youth ministry. In it, I addressed the things that my girls were struggling with that year, that month, that moment. The things that made me want to grab them by the proverbial, or literal, shoulders and shake some sense into them.
There are two books: one for adults and one written directly to teen girls. Both books cover the same list of 10 things, but the content is not identical. Both are slam-packed with truth, and both are super-fun. The Teen book has funny footnotes, illustrations, and discussion questions at the end of each chapter. It is structured well for a small group curriculum.
You can purchase the books in store or on your iPad or Nook! Pretty, pretty cool.
“As a former youth-worker and young mom in her twenties Conner stands squarely in generational gap - the perfect place from which to bridge it. Conner offers herself as a translator, helping you to speak your teenager’s language and equipping you with a fresh perspective from which to engage your teenage girl—one that may enable her to truly hear your heart (and your wisdom) for the first time since puberty.
Peppered with wit and laced with grace, Kate’s list tackles relevant issues like Facebook, emotions, drama, tanning beds, modesty, and flirtation. Woven into each chapter is a powerful message of worth that transcends age, and will touch the souls of women, young and old alike: You are beautiful. You are valuable. You are enough."
My books released on August 1, 2014. You can purchase them through Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
